Explore real nature of Nam Ha National Protected Area-an ASEAN Heritage Site (Nam Ha NPA), hidden of waterfall, excellent landscape, hike through old growth, primary bamboo & wild banana forests, birds sightseeing, overnight at Yao Eco-Lodge, experience into the Yao lifestyle, tradition and culture performance, discovery in different ethnic minority groups such as: Akha and Tai Lue villages.

Trek to visit Yao in Muang Sing Yao in Muang Sing Muang Sing Yao
Day 1: Nam Ha NPA-Ban Sai Leck (Yao Village). Approx. 4-5 hours
Start from our office by Tuk Tuk direct to the south of Nam Ha NPA, where elephant’s habitat area, the trail takes trekkers up to the mountain passes old growth, primary bamboo and wild banana forests to visit hidden of waterfall, on the mountain you will explore landscape of Nam Ha NPA, and learn about them. Have lunch on the trail, after lunch excursion from the waterfall pass old forest, agricultural fields visit Ban Sai Leck (Yao village) where we overnight for today. While waiting for dinner visit the villages walk around and meet the Yao people, learn about their lifestyle, traditional, culture, architecture…then enjoy your dinner host by local people. After dinner you will receive Yao performance their tradition and culture. The final of this day you will get free massage which is given traditionally to the guests staying overnight in the village.
Day 2: Ban Sai Leck-Muang Sing Town. Approx. 3-4 hours
After breakfast at the Eco-Lodge with local food host by the guide and family, we start walking visit two of Yao villages call Ban Jong Kha and Ban Nam Mai the villages of handicraft and trek though agricultural fields visit other ethnic groups with different villages and the end get the Tuk Tuk back to Muang Sing town.

To meet our objectives, we recommend:
  • Fitness level-Moderate
  To reach and experience a variety of visually rewarding landscapes and ecosystems, the trek hike can be strenuous at times. So it is best suited to trekkers in sound physical condition. Expect to walk 5 - 6 hours on day 1 and  a further  4-5 hours on day 2 including ascents and descents  Good fitness levels will minimize body stress and enhance your positive trekking experience.
  • Foot protection and safe walking
      A good quality pair of well fitting shoes with effective traction is essential. Either a pair of ‘runners’ or lightweight trekking boots are highly recommended for safety (foot and ankle protection), sureness of travel and overall enjoyment.
  • Sun Protection
      A broad brimmed hat is best, with water resistant ‘block out’ (sun screen cream), cool long shirt sleeves, cool trousers, sunglasses.
  • Insect protection. For comfort and safety  regarding possible insect bites and stings  we suggest

  3. (Overnight Mosquito nets are provided for you)
  • Rain Wear
      Tropical showers are an integral element of the landscape, so a waterproof layer is essential
  • Evening Wear
      After trekking your body temperature will cool quickly you rest and the night descends, so an additional layer of warm clothing is essential
  • Cold weather
      Night Temperatures in the mountains can drop fairly low during the Lao winter (December to January).  Again, additional thermal clothing is essential.

With regard to village accommodation:
  • There are no western-style toilets and washing facilities.
  • Sleeping is on mats on a bamboo floor, dormitory style.
  • Sleeping bags, foam mats and mosquito nets are supplied.
